Matthias zingg
My name is Matthias Zingg, I am 43 years old and grew up in the border triangle. After studying journalism and geography in Hamburg, I worked in journalism and corporate communications for 14 years. Besides my family, my passion is road cycling and gravel biking. I love being out and about in nature - whether with friends, family or on my own. My home and my favorite area for cycling is the border triangle with the Black Forest, Jura and Vosges mountains. The region is not only incredibly scenic, but also offers countless routes for every level. There is a suitable adventure for every cyclist here.
My passion for cycling has stuck with me for over 30 years. I really caught fire on July 23, 1989, when Greg Lemond and Laurent Fignon battled it out in an epic Tour de France time trial.
In order to pass on my knowledge professionally, I trained with Swiss Cycling as a road bike and gravel guide. The training not only gave me additional technical and methodological know-how, but also showed me how important it is to accompany people with enthusiasm and specialist knowledge.
In addition to my work as a guide, I am also a passionate long-distance cyclist. I love taking on big challenges and always discovering new facets of cycling. I am particularly proud to have successfully competed twice in the legendary Paris-Brest-Paris - one of the oldest and most prestigious long-distance races in the world, which only takes place every four years. The long-distance races not only helped me to optimize my endurance, mental strength and technique, but also gave me a deep understanding of proper pacing and planning.
